The Technology behind the Wrist system

The Architecture

We pride ourselves on keeping things simple and dependable, but keeping pace with the latest technologies where they are appropriate.

All our systems run using Microsoft Windows clients so the users just have a standard Windows PC to work on, with all the familiar software they would normally use.

The application and the data are stored seperately on a very secure and reliable server running RedHat Linux. RedHat Linux (http://www.redhat.com) is the operating system of choice for a large proportion of the internet and an increasing share of both industry and government computers.

The clients and servers can be networked across any TCP/IP network - bringing accessibility locally, via standard cabled or wireless networking, or to a wider area via the internet, using secure network communications.

We have found that this combination gives the best balance between the familiarity and widespread use of Windows PCs - and the power, stability and security of Linux servers.

The Application

The Wrist application is designed to be reliable, easy to learn and very fast to use. It covers areas such as Sales and Purchase Ledgers, Garment and Fabric Stock Control, Garment and Fabric Ordering, Sales Invoicing and Dispatch, Bill of Materials and Works Orders.
Information is displayed in intuitive layouts Information is displayed in intuitive layouts, making use of a colour/size matrix where applicable, so the maximum style information is displayed at any one time.
Data entry screens are designed around the keyboard because in our experience it is much faster for a user to type than it is to constantly click buttons or move about the application using a mouse.
A huge array of reports and on-screen interrogation forms are available to illustrate how almost every aspect of your business is performing.
